Visual Identity
Housed in the University’s first-ever building, the Athens University History Museum is a popular destination for schools thanks to its diverse collection and the many theatrical performances held in its facilities. I was commissioned to rework the logo, along with designing pencils and pencil holders, mouse pads, notepads, info booklets and bags for the Museum’s Gift Shop.
Nothing says “Athens University History Museum” more than a visual combination of its Greek initials (Μ.Ι.Π.Α.) and the façade of its 19th century building. The Museum collection itself also fueled my creativity.
Special among the products I designed was the sketch/placemat book: inspired by the Museum’s large portrait collection, I created a pad with detachable pages. Featuring empty picture frames, these sheets were suitable either for drawing or for putting under dinner plates. This proved quite popular among children and adults alike. Also drawing inspiration from the Museum is the round mousepad, based upon a scientific instrument found in the collection. Other products were more standardized in form but no less colorful or fun.
