I’ve been collaborating with Θ.Ο.Μ., the amateur Mykonos Theatre Troupe, since 2019. In September 2022 they staged Emeis oi Ellines (We Greeks), for which I designed the poster and info leaflet.

For locals and foreigners alike, the Tsolias (or its military version, the Evzonas, i.e. a member of the Presidential guard) is the symbol par excellence of Greekness. A few weeks before the performance, Mykonos hosted a group exhibition that celebrated/reinvented this famed archetype and featured 14 variations on the form of the Evzonas by 14 different artists.

The collage for the poster and leaflet cover was based on that exhibition. Combining various of those Evzones, I created the illusion of a crowd as per the performance’s title: We Greeks. The inside used simple, straightforward typography with info on the contributors, the performed texts and the music – plus a singled-out image from the exhibition. It is one of my favorite collaborations with Θ.Ο.Μ., because of the freedom I was given to “remix” the source material and create a new perspective.
